New Advocacy Training Opportunities for the COGI Community

New Advocacy Training Opportunities for the COGI Community

We’re excited to announce a new opportunity for the COGI Community to strengthen their advocacy skills and make a real difference for the Digestive Disease community throughout the year!

Starting in June 2024, we’ll be hosting patient and legislative advocacy training sessions as part of AFTCC (Advocating For The COGI Culture)

These mini- sessions will be designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools you need to effectively advocate for yourself, and others for impactful legislative change.

Here are some of the topics we’ll be covering:

  • Understanding the Legislative Process: Learn how bills become laws and how you can influence them.
  • Crafting Your Advocacy Message: Develop a clear, concise, and compelling message to share with policymakers.
  • Effective Communication Strategies: Hone your communication skills to connect with legislators, patients, and the media.
  • The Power of Storytelling: Learn how to use personal stories to make a lasting impact.
  • Legislative Updates: Stay informed about current legislation relevant to the IBD community.
  • Finding Your State Representatives: Learn how to find your State Reps and how to contact them.

These sessions will be held every quarter and are a fantastic opportunity to:

  • Gain valuable knowledge and skills.
  • Connect with other passionate advocates.
  • Make a real difference in the lives of people with Digestive Diseases.

We’ll be sending out additional information soon with more details about the registration process and the specific date for the inaugural session.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Tomiyo Williams, Manager of Community and Advocacy: Tomiyo@colorofgi.org
